Why Miami is a Great Place to Study Language

Miami has the largest percentage of foreign-born residents of any city in the United States. Currently, 51% of Miami-Dade County's nearly 2.3 million residents were born outside the United States. This number continues to increase and this growth is expected to continue. Although Spanish is the most frequently spoken foreign language in Miami, a variety of other languages are spoken there as well, including French and Creole in the Haitian community as well as a variety of Caribbean and European languages. Students have many opportunities to experience culture and immerse themselves in foreign language skills. The city sponsors several cultural festivals throughout the year.
